10 Mar - Thalapathy Vijay recently decided to celebrate his Muslim brethren by hosting an iftar event in the month of Ramadan.

The actor-politician was recently seen attending the grand iftar in Chennai on 7 March, dressed in the traditional white attire and the taqiyah, actively participating in the event and joining the breaking of the fast with guests.

A video from the event showed Vijay thanking everyone for showing 'brotherhood' and being present at the iftar.

The event was reported to have been held at the YMCA ground in Royapettah in Tamil Nadu, and organised by his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

It was reportedly attended by imams from 15 mosques across Chennai, with the event itself was prepared for 3,000 people.

The "Greatest of All Time" star also was reported to have observed a full day of fasting like his fellow Muslim fans in order to break the fast with his guests.

The actor, who reportedly will be retiring from acting following his final movie "Jaya Nayagan" to focus on his political life, is set to contest for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.

It is noted that this is not the first time that Vijay has held an iftar gathering for his Muslim friends and fans. In 2015, he also hosted an iftar party by serving food to 100 Muslims.
